Summer of Giving

Making a Difference, One Event at a Time

At Wow Lighting and Controls, we believe in the power of community. Every summer, our team launches Summer of Giving, an initiative that brings our staff, distributor partners, and local charities together to make a meaningful impact.

Throughout the season, we host a series of fundraising and awareness events across Alberta. Whether it’s a counter day, BBQ lunch, tradeshow, or spec event, each event is a chance to give back, support a cause, and strengthen the connections within our industry.

It’s our way of saying thank you to the communities we live and work in, and a reminder that small efforts, shared across many hands, can make a big difference.

At Ronald McDonald House Alberta, the Magic Room is a place where children can momentarily escape the challenges of their medical journeys. This special room is stocked with toys, books, and games, all made possible through the generosity of donors like you.

Toys provide more than entertainment; they help reduce anxiety, encourage social interaction, and support emotional healing. Whether it’s a brand-new game or a beloved character, every donated toy has the power to lift a child’s spirit and remind them that someone cares.

Each Magic Room is unique in its design across the province, but the feeling remains the same – awe and wonder. Children of all ages enter the Magic Room and choose a toy or gift that draws them in, and they get to keep it forever. It’s a small gesture that brings immense joy and a sense of normalcy during challenging times.

What Can You Donate?

Condition: New, unwrapped – where possible, please include proof of purchase with the donation.
Items: Toys, books, games, and activities for children of all ages – from infants to teens.

A quilt is so much more than fabric – it’s a tangible hug, a gesture of compassion, and a reminder of home in unfamiliar surroundings. Each handmade quilt offers warmth and support to children of all ages—from newborns to young adults—during their medical journeys.

Upon their arrival, families are warmly invited to visit the Quilt Room, where they can select a quilt generously donated by compassionate individuals and groups. These quilts not only provide immediate comfort but also become cherished keepsakes, offering enduring support during and long after their stay.
